Celebrations

Students enrolled in our programs also participate in an end-of-term Celebration.

Don’t be fooled by the name. Yes, Celebration is a time for students and families to celebrate student learning and creation each term. But it is also a powerful learning opportunity for families and children to experience learning together. Students learn as they share with their families the projects they worked on, the challenges they experienced, as well as what their peers accomplished.

The students’ work is a creative process that takes time to accomplish and we create a place and time for it to be displayed for others to enjoy and admire. This also helps mimic real-life deadlines experienced in the adult world. Often, an adult’s success at work and in life depends on timely and appropriate accomplishments. Holding a celebration at the end of every term gently prepares a student for life after school.

First term – Holiday Service Celebration
Second term – Learning Simulation Celebration
Third term – “Curiosity Expo” Celebration

Service and Outreach

Building up our community and serving those around us provide some of the best real-life contexts for learning and growing. During each term, we look for ways to make our learning and projects centered in our community. Sometimes this is as simple as finding ways to beautify nature during field trips and recess, making cards for the lonely, or building display-worthy dioramas that then go on to be viewed at the public library. We also find opportunities for students to serve and mentor each other.

Each year, students raise money via the Entrepreneur celebration for our Service Week activities that happen in February where we partner with organizations like Days for Girls, Utah Refugee Connection, Bountiful Food Pantry, and Ogden Weber Community Action Partnership (OWCAP) to name a few.

Social Events

We love to have fun and build relationships outside the classroom, too! We host several events throughout the year for families attending our programs. These optional events are either free or we charge a small fee, and are run by incredible volunteers from our board and our parents.

Past events include kickoff campout, our annual Halloween Harry Potter party, park days and hiking, and more!
