Creativity

More than just self-expression or crafting, creativity is as important as literacy in today’s world. We cultivate creativity by creating a low-pressure environment, lots of inspiration, and specific activities to teach divergent thinking.

Collaboration

In our mixed-aged classrooms, all students collaborate to decide on the scope, depth, skill level, and purpose of their projects as well as on planning, executing, and evaluating. The result is very engaged students and high-level collaboration.

Student-Centered

Our learning is built around student interests, needs, and development as we focus on the whole child. Students are given opportunities to lead, teach, work together, and take responsibility for their learning and growth.

Inquiry

More than just asking questions, our inquiry-rich environments spark student curiosity then ignites that initial wonder into a drive to understand. Students become seekers on their own journey instead of bystanders of a curriculum.

Project-Based

We take project-based learning to a new level. Projects grounded in inquiry are a way of understanding and learning in a hands-on way. Learning happens in a deeper and more meaningful way than is possible with pure academic study.

Problem-Solving

Problem-solving isn’t a tool only used as the need arises but rather an approach, mindset, or way to see the world. It combines positivity with initiative, as it is easy to see the problems in the world. But it takes positivity and initiative to see solutions and do something about them.

Hiring for Mindset Instead of Skillset

According to HR Morning, the leading source of human resources news, companies will shift away from requiring a specific skillset in 2024 and move toward hiring for a desired mindset. Fewer businesses will require degrees, certifications, or a specified number of years of experience in their field. In contrast, more businesses will look for candidates with a positive attitude and a demonstrated ability to learn. Karoli Hindriks, Co-founder and CEO of Jobbatical says that many jobs people are applying for in 2024 may not even exist in two to four years. As a result, hiring agents will be looking for

Confidence and Independence: Six Dimensions of Learning

Learning is more than just knowing stuff! In this video, we learn from our kiwi bird friends that in order to learn and use the stuff we know, we need to have appropriate levels of confidence and independence. Lacking confidence slows a learner down, while too much confidence can be dangerous. Students need to accurately gauge their level of independence with confidence which will help them know when to ask for help. “Knowing what you don’t know” actually drives more learning! This video was created by interns at Link Education League: Kai Olenslager and Emiline Ludlow under the direction of
